Can I still have this therapy if I have darker skin?
Light to medium skin tones is ideal candidates for photorejuvenation procedures. While our IPL treatment is effective and safe for darker skin types 4 and 5, it should not be used on skin type 6.
More likely to have discoloration is the skin of a higher type. Before committing to a treatment, it’s smart to talk it over with the technician to make sure it’s safe and effective for you.
How frequently or how long should I wait between sessions?
There is a pause of three to four weeks between each treatment.
Is there anything special I need to do before I get the treatment?
Get rid of any dirt or grime that might be on your skin. Do not put on any skin care products, including lotions, creams, or cosmetics, in the days leading up to your session. You should also avoid using tanning beds and tanning products. Shaving the area before treatment is sometimes recommended. Take off any jewelry you may be wearing near the treatment area.
How does this treatment make you feel?
As the device is moved over the treatment region, you may feel nothing at all or a light snapping sensation, similar to that of an elastic band, against your skin.
And how painful do you anticipate it to be?
Although the applicator has a cooling feature to make the treatment as bearable as possible, some discomfort is to be expected if you’re treating a particularly sensitive area, such as the upper lip. Don’t be afraid to speak up if you’re experiencing any pain or distress during the procedure so that the technician can make the necessary adjustments.
When my treatment is complete, how will I feel?
After treatment, most people report feeling either nothing at all or a mild warm. As a result of the therapy, you may be flushed with pink for up to 24 hours. Carefully observe all pre- and post-treatment procedures.
What steps should I take following my treatment?
For at least two weeks before and after treatment, you should use sunscreen and avoid tanning beds. For the first two days after your treatment, you should also stay away from hot showers, massages, and anything else that involves direct skin contact.
